This month we are featuring a fantastic 12” X 12” x 20”
bronze sketch/maquette of the Pieta by Joseph N DeLauro from 1953. This
was one of 2 maquettes made for an installation of a twice life size
version at the Holy Cross church in Detroit Michigan, where it stands
today. It was inspired as a remembrance to those lost in World War II
and still holds that purpose. JN DeLauro won numerous high level awards
in his career. His works are seldom accessible on the market as almost
all of his pieces are either large scale installations or in private
collections. Signed by the artist and complete with the Milan foundry
mark, this is a rare and special piece we have the privilege to sell.
